Our relationships with possessions can be changed, we can change our thoughts, we can create enthusiasm, love, interest or disinterest and so on. There are some that think that they can own power, so they have great difficulty giving up this imagined power. Change your thoughts and feelings and your world will change. But only through the present moment.

The present tense is the only source of power and it demands that you give up your mental possessions to facilitate change to happen.

Astrologically speaking  Gemini and Cancer represent how you think and how you feel. Thinking and feeling are based on reactions to past memories. Actions  are supported by being in the present tense. One is supported by the past and one is supported by the present. One is the illusion of ownership and the other is the reality of ownership. These decans  are a central theme of our Summer solstice ceremony.

The first decan of Gemini

is called Ursa Minor.

A  small bear travelling backwards with a long tail touching the Pole star. Restless activity and the power of the present tense. It is the opposite way around to the objective mind or the Great Bear. They rely on their intuition and may get involved in too many activities. They can assimilate everything and decisions are spontaneous. They can become intellectually successful or they can dissipate their interests too thinly.

The Intuitive mind.

The second decan of Gemini is called Canis Major.

A large dog sitting up waiting attentively for orders from his master, the hunter. Indicates an aptitude for faithfulness, reverence and veneration. A desire to follow their conscience. Should take up some cause or support a set of principles. Fidelity.

The Soul is the hunter and the dog is our personality. Service to something larger than yourself is the key to Gemini.

The third decan of Gemini

is called Ursa Major.

A large bear travelling around the Pole Star, but does not touch the Pole Star.  This symbolises the objective scientific mind and its limitation. Too much calculated reason, should cultivate idealism, religion or something larger than oneself to avoid becoming self-centred. Capacity to accomplish much by using their mind but must avoid the danger of ruthless responses to situations. Reason (the lowest form of thinking).

The words Ursa, Arddir and Arcturus are related to the words Arthur and bear, the light bringer or the light bearer. The small bear is the intuitional mind and the large bear is the objective academic mind.

Hermes or Mercury is the guardian of the sign of Cancer which denotes the northern limit of the sun’s course in summer. Cancer is the sign of the summer solstice. The star constellation of Ursa Minor is intimately associated with the Pole star. The lesser Bear is marked by seven stars which are called by the ancients “the Enclosure of Life”, the Pole star is Lord of the Enclosure

Your mind is related to the stars in the sky and the Pole star is the Pineal gland in your head. This gives us the opportunity to connect the Universe within us to the Universe outside of us. This opportunity  exists every moment in time. Externally it comes around every year at the Summer solstice when the Sun and Moon rise to their highest position in the sky. In the zodiacal pathway Cancer and Leo are ruled by the Moon and Sun. Then the Guardian signs of Gemini and Virgo  are ruled by Mercury, then Venus and so on.

The Sun, the Moon, the constellation of Ursa Minor, the Pole star and the sign of Cancer, become the meeting place for your thoughts and feelings about light and life. These need to rise up to the highest expression they can be.
